Various Caribbean Places

Los Roques: If you are stupid, you would probably believe that I went to Los Roques by boat, for then to walk ashore (picture). I am actually coming ashore from the catamaran, as I went on day trip to the islands with my friend Marines. Los Roques: I went by plane (picture), and it is a 30 minutes flight to Los Roques from Caracas. As the beautiful islands of Los Roques are part of a national park, it is kind of expensive to go there, and it costs around 100 USD for a 1-day-trip. Coro: This is evidently not a picture of the city itself, but of a famous mini-Sahara located not far from it. Coro is supposed to have the best historic buildings in Venezuela, which is probably true, but it still was not impressive enough to make a trip there worthwhile.

Barcelona: This city does also have some historic quarters, and is more conveniently located (close to Puerto La Cruz). A trip there can easily be combined with a trip to Margarita, or how about some relaxing days in Mochima National Park? Santa Fe, Mochima National Park: This is a quiet fishing town located inside Mochima National Park, and it provides cheap accommodation. I went there by myself, though, and soon realised that there is not much to do without a girlfriend around. A boat trip to see dolphins is possible though. Tucacas is an ugly, boring and unfriendly town situated close to Moroccoy National Park. If I had not met Veerle (picture), it would have become my most disappointing experience in Venezuela. If you should want a quick beach holiday from Caracas, head for Choroni. The latter is part of Henry Pittier National Park, and really close to Caracas.
