Guam, Micronesia, 2005
Guam

Guam likes to think of itself as the beginning of Micronesia, which is true as the island is a convenient entry port to other more exotic islands.  Apart from that, Guam is to Asia what the Canary Islands are to Europe and Cancun is to the United States.  It is an easily accessible and equally tacky holiday destination for your average Joe Tourist (though in Guam he is more likely to be called Mr. Takanaka).

Hong Kong, 2005
Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a city with an amazing Chinatown, a great skyline, and an incredible amount of Chinese people and other human beings.  This was my first time to visit the territory, and I enjoyed the city more than I had expected to.

Northern Norway, 2005
Norway

Yuka and I visited Norway together for approximately 10 days, and we spent quite some time in Northern Norway.  The coastline there is nothing but impressive.  However, coming as a tourist is quite expensive.  On my budget it is almost impossible to visit my own home country.

Cairns, Australia, 2005
Australia

My first trip ever south of the Equator.  After flushing the toilet 100 times to observe if the water flushes counterclockwise, Yuka and I left to airport in Cairns to see if the country has any interesting sights.  It has a couple, and I soon discovered that it is impossible to walk around the island in a week.

Kuching, Malaysia, 2004
Malaysia

Considered to be one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful cities, Kuching is located in Sarawak on Borneo.  This was my second time in Malaysia, and visiting is always a pleasurable experience.  Although Malaysia is a mainly Muslim country, there have been no terrorist incidents so far.  Let us hope it stays that way.
