| One of the few things
to see in the centre of Beijing is the Forbidden City, and it makes for
a pleasant stroll. I would recommend anyone interested to watch the movie
"The First Emperor" before going. It gives good insight into the time when
Beijing was an special city, this in contrast to the huge garbage dump
it is now. |

One of the few enjoyable aspects
of Beijing is that it makes a great location for picture taking. Observing
a society slowly becoming more and more obsessed with earning money, this
in midst of human misery, Mao worshipping and pollution, certainly makes
for a few depressing Kodak moments. |
| This guy was really old, so I decided
to go online with the freak. The woman to the left is pretty hot too; who
wouldn't want a piece of that. Anyway, the summer palace makes for a great
day trip, this as it gets you away from downtown Beijing and all its pollution.
Have not scanned any good pictures from the palace, but people who are
not going to spend 2 weeks in Beijing (as we did), are advised to prioritize
sites outside the city centre. |

Relatively speaking; if you live
in dirt, swimming in a polluted river can't be all that bad. One of
the worst things about China, and this is on the Top-10 list, is the low
standard of hygiene. Toilets usually don't have doors, and at most youth
hostels they will only be cleaned once people start dying when walking
past them. My advice is; stay in a good hotel, or at least use the toilets
there. We did. |
