Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
This bridge in Tienhsiang leads to a pagoda and temple that are situated on the top of a hill.  The view from the top is beautiful, though the temple itself is rather tacky - it was built in the 1960s or so. Yuka is here seen with the pagoda in the background.  I believe this is the first pagoda I have seen made out of cement.

Okay, I just included this picture as I am making a rather funny face. Pulowan is a small town inhabited by some aboriginal people.  It is all rather touristy, but traditional garments can be bought for a price I am sure I can not afford.

Back in Hualien, or mildly outside of it, we captured this view of a rather nice-looking beach.  The city of Hualien, however, is a place best avoided.  It has virtually no charm, and should be considered nothing but a stop on the way. Yuka is here drinking some kind of Chinese tea that she really enjoys.  Although I wish I knew the name of it, I want to pay a general homage to the great variety of dishes and drinks available in Taiwan.  The only problem is, of course, that one seldom has any idea what one is ordering.
