Jan does Switzerland!

Interlaken Still in Interlaken A Glacier in Interlaken
Lake Zürich Cheese fondue Mount Säntis
This sweet picture was taken in Interlaken, a town situated along the Aare River, in the Bernese Highland.  Even though Interlaken is only 568 meter above sea level, the town's 5000 inhabitants and the many visiting tourists get a great view of the spectacular Jungfrau (4,158m), this in addition to many other famous mountains. LonelyPlanet estimates that it is possible to do Switzerland on 30$ a day, a figure which does not include transportation money.  Therefore, I felt lucky to know Nicky, son of the very friendly Mr. and Mrs. Ritter, who happen to own one of Interlaken's finest hotels. Interlaken is a very nice town, but it is really just a base for further exploration of the area.  There are numerous mountains to climb, glaciers to explore and cultural activities to take part in.   Norway is a beautiful country, but I think overall Switzerland has more to offer.   Sights are also much more spread out in Norway, making Switzerland much easier to explore.

Same glacier in Interlaken Montreux Chateau de Chillon, Montreux

I do not quite remember the name of the glacier we went to, but it had many impressive ice sculptures inside.  After having visited Geneva, from which I do not see any reason to present any pictures, we traveled on to Montreux.   The city is famous for its annual jazz festival, but also for its incredible location. Chateau de Chillon, one of Switzerland most beautiful historic buildings, can be seen in the background of this picture.  Situated by Lake Geneva, Montreux really looks incredible when mirroring itself in the forefront of some really impressive mountains.
