The images below are some random pictures taken at Stouffer
College House, where I am currently living in block C. Being an exchange student at
the University of Pennsylvania for only one year (00/01), I decided to stay in a dorm to
become better integrated into American culture. Obviously, I made these thoughts before
discovering that the country does not have any culture at all, and that people here
consist of uncivilised brutes.
UPenn is one of America's oldest universities, and is
ranked 6th in the country. The institution is literally unknown abroad, especially
in comparison to schools as Harvard and Stanford, but holds a great name in the States in
fields as nursing and business. Anyway, even though you have to be relatively bright
to enter the school, social skills are not needed. The students at UPenn are
basically those who nerded their way through high school by avoiding parties, the opposite
sex and sports. They did that with a common goal in mind;
To enter an Ivy League school.
Well, here comes the sad part; While many students discover,
after entering college, that studying is not everything here in life, some do not.
With all due likelihood, you will find many of the latter in Stouffer. As I
personally did not enter puberty before turning 19, I feel quite at home in this
environment, and am more than happy to isolate myself in my room every Friday and Saturday
night.
This is not to say that Stouffer is no fun though! We might
not party, or go out. Hey, we might not even have any interest in the opposite sex. Yet,
we revolt every Wednesday at coffee hour, and a large percentage drink up to two cups of
coffee (even though coffee is made from beans, we know it is not healthy).
When having food parties, we eat crazy ethnic food derived from the cuisines of China and
Italy, and there are no limits to the consumption of soda.
If you think this sounds exciting, don't even dream of
getting invited. And you won't make it past the guards either. Stouffer's
security personal may well be the dumbest on campus, but they certainly know how to guard
the coffee.

| This is Aparna, a good Indian/Swiss/American friend of mine.
She is probably the smartest girl in Stouffer, and is majoring in five or six
different subjects. This picture was taken two years ago, when she was 13 years old.
|
This is probably the best picture I took during the year
2000. Sam made it on my Babe of the Week page with this classical nap, and he has
since become famous for his weird sleeping patterns. |
I have no clue who all these people are, but the girl in white is
Andrea, my wanna-be-French friend. To her right is Amy, who makes me cookies every
Wednesday. She has become sort of a second mom to me, and since her husband is
Norwegian, I think I get preferential treatment. Some times I am even allowed to enter
their kitchen. |
To the left is Keke, but she does not believe she is very
pretty, and usually hides from the camera. Violetta is in the middle, obviously
pleasing me by being the second French babe in my bed. Andrea, if she can be considered
French, is the first, and is smiling to the right. |

| Here we have a more recent version of Aparna, Tom from
Nebraska, Violetta and Andrea. Tom always comes to my room when I have women over, and
that is of course every night. Coming from a socialist country, I believe in sharing, and
Tom is not the guy to say no. |
This is Sam, checking out Janhoo Mail. He is not an ardent
supporter of my site, but this is due to his excessive sleeping. Actually, Sam
sometimes sleeps for days, and only leaves his room to visit the bathroom.
|
In another classic picture, we have Stephanie, McKaelyn,
Jen, Tom, Erin and Lisa. I took this shot at one of Phil's and Amy's coffee hours,
to which I go to enjoy Lisa's coffee every Wednesday. |
Bunty, Vijay, Eiji and Sam are here gathered in the hallway
outside my room, where they often gather to make fun of me and my grades. With the
exception of Sam, they have all developed an asexual lifestyle due to an excess amount of
studying. They are generally found in the library, but take a break every Saturday to make
fun of the exchange student (me).. |

| The last comments were not were
concise at describing
Bunty, but what would the world do without some exaggeration? Originally from Indonesia,
Bunty currently lives in the UK, from which his dad controls most of India.
|
Dan wanted a funny picture of himself, this after being
inspired by my random dumb photographs at Janhoo.
I am not really sure if he succeeded, but at least the picture did not help him get any
women. |
Dan seems here to have discovered that it was not a good
idea to take the last picture. Being one of Wharton's brightest students, with a GPA that
breaks most scales, Dan will leave UPenn and go to Singapore for an exchange during Spring
01'. He has said that if he is not able to find me an internship in Singapore, he will
invest money in a new Upenn foodtruck specializing in fried pubes - Beijing style.

Tom is without doubt one of the sexiest people in Stouffer,
well, not that there ever was much competition. He has some major weaknesses, though, one
being sleeping until 5 PM, another a weird sexual fascination for his toes, and finally a
tendency to forget showing up for finals! |

| For a while, I thought Andrea looked good in pictures due
to my magical aura, but I have learnt to accept that she holds some power of her own.
Being one of the hottest students at Penn, she has problems entering my room without being
harassed, especially when wearing those crazy socks bought on an autumn sale with Amily.
|
Keke can seldom be seen during the semester, this as she is
double majoring in four years while caring a lot about her grades. She starts
studying every morning after rolling out of bed, and seldom sleeps more than 4 hours a
night. When having free time, she ponders on the troublesome issue of why she is still
single. |
Here we have Bunty and Eiji in yet another picture. The
latter does not quite know what nationality he is, but he claims to have Japanese roots.
Additionally, he seems very attached to Janhoo's Babes of the Week, but he has problems
understanding that I don't know all the models personally. |
Tom is often surrounded by women, but it annoys me when he
has to do them in my bed. As my homies say down in Philly: "You ain't taking my ho',
if you ain't gat no do'". |

| Stephanie makes cookies at Stouffer every Wednesday, but
except from that, I don't really know what she does anymore. Even though she used to hang
out at Stouffer a lot, we apparently are not good enough for her anymore, especially
because we can't really speak with a British accent. |
Andrea sent me an invitation for
brunch some time ago, and I must say Andrea was pretty hot at the age of 5. She grew up in
a relatively promiscuous household, and I personally would not allow my children to strip
at such an early age. Yet, then again, if the occasion is a Rio carnival, then let the
children go nuts. |
This picture was taken during a visit
to Philly's HardRock cafe. We had been to a conference arranged by the Wharton
school, but it turned out to be crap, causing us the focus on the free beer. Heading
on to HardRock, we got some more nutrition for the brain, and ended the evening on a happy
note. Going with the clock from the left, we have Arun, Rob, your beloved Jan, and
Dan. |
This picture was taken before going
out to some club, the latter turning out to be one of the emptiest establishments I have
ever seen. We were virtually alone at the disco, and therefore returned home pretty
disappointed. |
