Early this year, I attended an international student camp in Shibuya with other students from Sophia University.  It was a lot of fun, and I even met a girl whom I had the pleasure of dating for some time (Natsuko, to the very left in the picture). Here is a picture from Meiji shrine in Tokyo, where the chances always are good for observing a wedding.  The costume worn by the bride has inspired many Star Wars movies.

In a late winter month, I went skiing with my host family.  Although the weather was not great on the day we arrived, this picture shows that the following day was really excellent. For the first time in my life, I tried snowboarding.  We all attended a quick course, though it did not help me much.

One of the best things about living in Japan are the occasional visits to a ryokan.  The food is excellent, so are the hot springs. Okay, back to snowboarding.  In this picture I appear to have given up.  My host brother, Tokuro, is to my left.

If I had started snowboarding earlier on, I am sure I could have learned how to do it.  Now, however, I have to admit that I am without any trace of talent. My parents came to visit me in September.  My mother did not leave my apartment on the first day due to a cold, but my father was up to the challenge.  This picture is taken in front of the imperial palace.

On a day we did not have much planned, I took my parents to see Rikugien Gardens in Tokyo.  Located not far from Ikebukuro, it is hard to believe that this picture was taken in the middle of the city! My host parents invited us to a ryokan, and we had an excellent time together.  My host father's sister, and her husband, joined us as well.
