| Honestly I went to Brunei Darussalam before climbing Mt. Kinabalu. We flew Royal Brunei Airlines from KL to the Bandar Seri Begawan, and we had Islamic prayers before taking off. The pilot is in charge of most airlines, but it seems like RBA needs some extra help when flying. The sultan of Brunei has an estimated fortune of around 40 billion dollars, which alone qualifies him to be my favourite and only friend if he should ever ask. | Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque - Named after the 28th sultan of Brunei, and cost 5 million 1958 USD to build. | |||
| The top picture is of my Japanese host brother, Tokuro, and the bottom one of your good friend Jan. | Kampung Ayer is a collection of 28 water villages. The houses are built on stilts out in the Brunei River, but the water resembles a big sewer. Around thirty thousand live in these water villages, and reportedly refuse to move even though they have been offered proper housing. Why not, living on a sewer in Brunei does not seem much worse then freezing your ass off in northern Norway does. So much for cultural comparison. | |||
| The coolest person in Brunei Darussalam is without doubt the sultan's son Jeffrey, who is known to be a real Playboy. He really knows how to enjoy Islam, and seldom settles down for less than three wives. When your dad has 40 billion bucks, and in addition his own country, it's not too difficult to get the girls. Women love money, and Jeffrey has lots of it. | To the left if one of Jeffrey's two yachts. I took the picture on my way
from Brunei to Limbang. Enlarge the picture if you want proof; the name of the boat is:

| Once again; Tokuro and I in front of Kampung Ayer. | Unfortunately I don't have any good pictures of it, but the main attraction in Brunei must be Jerudong Playground. It's an amusement park situated just by the jungle, and not only the rides beat those of Disneyland. Everything, including the entrance, is free, so there is no need to spend any money while there. Enjoy a park with no lines, hassles or annoying kids..... getting there is of course the only problem. You have to be both weird and rich to build a park like Jerudong in Brunei, and lucky for visitors; people in Brunei are so in abundance. |
