My host family

My host family

Ambe was from the beginning a great host-family. From the first day when Yasunaga (my host father) introduced himself in Norwegian, I was at once impressed to see their willingness to make my stay enjoyable and memorable.

Reiko's cooking was totally magnificent. Incredible how easy one can come to love the Japanese cuisine. Otosan took time off his demanding job to help me settle in. Concerning my host family, I must have been one of those lucky students who almost never got into problems.

Ambe took me to see sumo, showed me Japan, introduced me to Japanese customs and taught me everything I would have to know to survive in Japan. AFS is very strong in Japan and most students actually come to like their host families. Luckily I belonged to the majority of students who become satisfied or more than satisfied with their host families.

I miss Japanese family life. Like so many other AFS-students before me, I really felt at home at Ambe's home after a while. It's a great feeling, and I have to thank the Ambe-family for making it all possible.

Get back!
