To all you critics out there

I consider myself finished with the prostitution-topic. It seems to me that some of you misunderstood why I posted these mails. I enjoy getting responses, but the one's who told me that I can't possibly grasp the full aspects of Japanese culture, missed the point.

I tried to write informative mails from my point of view on Japanese prostitution, not to explain so much what Japanese think of this. I didn't try to discuss the historical reasons for the Japanese prostitution or the geographical differences inside Japan. Neither the different views on sex among the age-groups.

But I tried to give my impression on the subject. How I felt when I encountered the many girls who prostitute themselves and the anger I felt.

I disagree that there is much discussion on the subject in Japan (from a European point of view). It is seldom mentioned in the newspapers and it's not a topic in elections (politicians and bureaucrats are themselves eager customers). But if the notion that Japanese parents care and know about it is true, then it's strange that there isn't a massive uproar in Japan.

I don't feel like polluting the mailing-list with more information on Japanese prostitution, but I have posted my original letters on my homepage. In a few days I'll try to answer some of the criticism there, and later I'll try to write on another topics concerning Japan there as well.

This was just a short explanation
