Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Washing elephants at the Elephant Nature Park. Cute elephant at the Elephant Nature Park.

Yuka feeding elephants at the Elephant Nature Park. Prior to visiting the elephant park, I unfortunately was not aware of the mistreatment that Thai elephants go through in order to work for tourists.  That is why we did not refuse to join the elephant trip that was included in one of our guided tours.  At least now we know better.

From Chiang Mai, we also participated in a tour that included some minor hiking.  Considering the crazy heat at the time, we were happy not to spend more time walking around than absolutely necessary. Yuka and I in front of some random waterfall.
Finally, we also did bamboo rafting, which is less exciting than it looks.  The most fun was being splashed water at by Thais that were also enjoying the river on this Sunday.  Bamboo rafting is enjoyed by the locals as well, which makes it less of a touristy affair than I had imagined.
