Part 1 Part 2
A picture of my parents in front of a big cedar tree.  We decided not to visit the biggest cedar tree of them all, namely the Jomon-sugi.  The latter cedar tree has a girth of about 28m around the root base.  It is not known how old the Jomon-sugi is, but some claim that it is the oldest tree in the world. Your hero on top of Tachu-dake, which is located 1,497 meters above sea level.  Due to the high humidity on the island, not to forget to intense heat, the climb was very tiring.  Please do not ask ask how the gigantic rock made it to the top of the mountain.  I certainly did not carry it up there.

We enjoyed watching monkeys pick lice from each other's fur, for then to proceed to eat it. I wish humans had such simple dietary habits.  Who would then need to work for a living?  There would be no hunger, and I am sure different kinds of lice can be quite tasty.

The Senpiro-no-taki Waterfall.  Lots of Japanese tourists were taking pictures, so here you go.  I would not want to be any different. A picture of bandai-sugi cedar.  These trees are really strange.  I am not a biologist, so I will not even attempt to explain.  Also, please note that I am very lazy.

A picture from a sight called the Pillow-shaped Lava Field.  I did not understand what was amazing about this, but believe me, it is a sight.  I trusted my tourist map, took a picture, and was sure to tell everyone at the hostel that it was amazing.  That made me feel very bright. Yakushima is also a great place for swimming, and probably for surfing as well.

Just a picture to prove that it is indeed possible to swim in October.  However, please note that we are Norwegians, and I could not see any Japanese tourists swimming.  Perhaps they could not find the ocean? Another beautiful picture of Yakushima.  This one is taken from a lighthouse located on the southwestern part of the island.  Yakushima is a pearl, undoubtedly one of the most interesting places in Japan to visit.

Yet another nice picture. Yakushima is located southern Japan, and is just a few hours by boat away from the port city of Kagoshima (pictured above).
