Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
After staying at the resort for a couple of days, we headed into Kuching.  In this picture, Yuka is eating a delicious meal that cost almost nothing. Located on the south bank of the Sungai Sarawak, Kuching means "cat" in Malay and stretches out in all directions.

As most Japanese people would have, Yuka got really excited when she encountered raw fish at the fish market. My quest to expose the beauty of Chinese dinner tables to the world did not end with my trip to Shanghai.  The major ethnic group on Borneo is Chinese Malaysians, thus I thought it would make for an interesting study to compare Chinese dinner tables in Kuching to those in Shanghai.

Here is a close-up of the dinner table after a Chinese family had finished their meal.  Decide for yourself how it compares to the Shanghai dinner table. Enough about Chinese dinner tables.  Yuka is a big fan of orang-utans.  That is probably one of the reasons why she dates me.  After all, some of my close relatives live in cages.  The Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, which is located close to Kuching, provides for an excellent opportunity to see orang-utans in the wild.

Since the orang-utans only come to the centre when they do not have sufficient amounts of food in the jungle, our guide told us that it is sometimes difficult to see orang-utans during the rainy season.  During that time, there is supposedly lots of fruits to go around. Another picture of Yuka eating, this time some delicious fish-ball soup.
