Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
The Bund refers to the famous Western colonial buildings that make up the west shore of the Huangpu River, thus making up the eastern boundary of old downtown Shanghai.

The Eastern side of the river houses most of the new and modern Shanghai.  Seen on this picture are the Oriental Pear TV Tower (self-explanatory) and Jin Mao Tower, the world's third highest building as of November 2003 (furthest to the right). Another picture of the Bund (which means the Embankment) as we travel towards the Yangzi River.  Most of the buildings are from the 19th and early 20th century, and the area certainly makes for a nice stroll.

Another picture of the Bund. In the evening, we went for foot massage.  At just over 10 USD for almost 2 hours of enjoyment, it is money well spent.

Another picture of the Oriental Pear TV-Tower, which charges a hefty amount of money to access its top deck at 468 meters.  The Jin Mao Tower charges a somewhat lower amount for access to its top floor at 421 meters.
