Minakami - Tanigawa-dake!

| On a Saturday in May, Yuka and I decided to visit Tanigawa-dake peaks. They are located on the prefectural borders of Niigata and Gunma, and relatively close to the city of Minakami. | The way I uploaded these pictures, we will be going a bit back and forth in time. Please bear with me. I believe this a picture of Oki-no-mimi (1977m), the highest of the Tanigawa-dake peaks. |

| We reached this point by taking the cable-car from Doai-guchi to Tenjin-daira, and thus did not really have to do much walking. There was still much snow left in the mountains, and the ski resort actually had a couple of lifts open! | Another picture of the mountain scenery. Reaching this area in a day from Tokyo demands an early morning, but it is certainly worth it! |

| A picture of Yuka facing the mountains in the opposite direction of Oki-no-mimi. As you can see, there was a lot of snow left. Sort of reminded me of Norway. | Sorry to confuse you, but here we are down in the lowlands. Since there was too much snow in the mountains, we decided to take a walk along a local river. As you can see, this bridge was flooded. |
